Should I Get a Hands-Free Headset?

Tuesday, 22 Mar 2011 04:38 PM

Cell phones are becoming more popular as people choose to drop their landlines for the convenience of a mobile phone. Having to hold the phone to the ear and mouth to talk can be an inconvenience so many are now switching to a hands free headset. There are many benefits to having this type of device attached to a cell phone.

  • A headset reduces muscle tension. A recent study shows that the use of a cell phone can lead to shoulder, neck, and upper back stress. Using a hands free set can reduce this by 40%. With the use of the headset you can stop chronic pain and muscle strain before it starts.
  • Become more productive. When your hands are not being used to hold the telephone, you can get other tasks done quickly and easily. As time is limited for most people, being able to complete two or more tasks at one time is very helpful. The headset allows you to do this.
  • Freedom of movement comes with the purchase of a hands free set. If you need to be able to move around while talking on the phone, you know how difficult wired headsets can be. Technological advances now allow you to have a wireless headset so you can move freely without worrying about getting tangled up.
  • Extend the range of your cell phone. When your mobile device only picks up in certain areas of your home, a wireless hands free set can allow you to move freely throughout the house. Place your phone in an area with good reception and, as long as you stay within the headset range, you can talk to your heart's content. Being trapped in an area with good reception is less of an issue when you have a hands free set that is wireless.
  • Obey the laws of the state you are driving in. Many states now have laws which state you cannot drive and hold a cellular phone. The use of a headset allows you to continue your conversation even while behind the wheel of a car. The fine that accompanies a ticket is much more than the cost of a hands free headset.
As you can see, there are many benefits to getting a hands free set for your cell phone. As these devices are constantly dropping in price, you can get a great wireless headset for under $50. That cost is easily offset by the benefits you get from having one.
