Eczema: Top 5 Drugs That Work

Eczema is a form of skin disease where the outer layer of the skin inflates and leads to flaking, redness, rashes, blisters, and even bleeding. A number of treatments are available for eczema. Steroid creams are helpful, but they can have side effects. Doctors also recommend the use of antibiotics. These eczema drugs help relieve itchiness and dryness of the skin.

Immunosuppressants are often recommended over steroids, mainly due to the side effects that steroids can have. In addition to the drugs recommended by doctors, colloidal oatmeal and baking soda are useful in treating eczema. They are used to replace soap, which is not good for skin with eczema. Coconut oil with tea tree oil also work for this condition.

Eczema treatment can include the use of the following five drugs:

1. Prednisone oral tablet, a corticosteroid, treats inflammation of the skin.
2. Benzocaine rectal ointment is used for itching and swelling.
3. Betamethasone valerate topical foam, a corticosteroid, is used to treat scaling, redness, and itching
4. Fluticasone Propionate Topical lotion can be applied to the skin to lessen swelling, redness, itching, and allergic reactions.
5. Doctors also recommend the use of antibiotics such as ciclosporin (cyclosporine), azathioprine, and methotrexate.
