May 5th is Cinco de Mayo, a holiday of Mexican origin that celebrates the country’s unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.
 
The day is now celebrated in the U.S. as a commemoration of Mexican heritage and pride.
 
Foods for the celebration often include tacos, nachos, salsa and guacamole, and various other traditional Mexican fair.
