How to Save Money on Hotels

Thursday, 23 Dec 2010 10:51 AM

If you are the kind of person who loves traveling, you will surely love to save some money on the trip. Follow the tips mentioned below and you will be able to unwind at some of the best hotels at throw away prices:

1. Take the sting out of your budget by booking a hotel room as part of a tour package. These packages may let you afford a luxury resort at half the price. Plenty of travel websites offer information on discounted room rates, names of hotels, special offers, and the best deals offered by hotels at different times of the year. This information will help you not only plan your budget and vacation, but also give you value for your money. You will need to scour the net for some cheap hotel deals for the best option.

2. Staying for more days in the same hotel can save expenses incurred while paying the booking fee. Sometimes, a longer duration of stay can earn you rebates such as gift coupons or a free night’s stay.

3. Purchase gift cards for hotels that come at a discount. This can help you gain access to some of the best hotels at cheap rates. Discounts are also offered to certain club members, alumni associations, and corporate travelers. Travel club cards can help you save on hotel rooms. Coupon books available at gas stations and at the visitor’s center can help save a few dollars on your hotel bills.

4. Going to a winter destination during the summer months may not sound very appealling, but it will definitely cost you less. Hotels offer big rebates during the off season, especially at popular tourist destinations.

5. During your stay at the hotel try to avoid using the hotel phone. Try eating out as much as possible to save money. Hotel restaurants tend to be expensive. Also, try to do with minimal room service. Keep a note of the check out time of the hotel and vacate the hotel within the specified time. Otherwise, you will be charged for a full day by overstaying by just a few hours.

6. When you are traveling, be sure to check the hotel rates in nearby towns. Sometimes, a satellite town near the city may have hotel accommodations at much cheaper rates. You may be able to find good rooms at a cheap hotel too.
