Chamomile Sources and Uses

Chamomile is a popular herbal remedy. It is used as an anti-depressant in addition to being used as a disease alleviator. It is available in two varieties such as german chamomile and roman chamomile. But, what is chamomile and where can we find it?

Chamomile is an herb that was traditionally grown in the European regions, India, and in some parts of Asia. However, it is now commonly grown in many parts of the United States.

Chamomile is a daisy-shaped flower that has a nice, “apple-like” scent attached to it. In the United States, the german variety of chamomile is more popular. Chamomile sources in the market are aplenty, and it is available in a variety of forms. Chamomile tea bags are widely available in the market and natural health stores. Powdered, dried flowers are usually a better option. These are available online and possibly in natural health stores too. Chamomile can also be obtained in shampoo form.

Chamomile flower is used in perfumes, shampoos, essential oils, medicines, teas, etc. Chamomile is so gentle that it has even been recommended for infants with sleep problems. It is an effective additive to the diet of those with Asperger’s syndrome and autism. The reason for this is that chamomile reduces erratic behavior in such patients and soothes the mind. Its property as a relaxant is unquestioned. So it is highly recommended in patients with autism and Asperger’s, where the patients need to be calmed and their hostile/irritable behavior is to be reduced. To them, chamomile in tea or pill form is a great choice. Gluten-free diet is a dietary solution to autism, which is also met by chamomile. With chamomile as a supplement, the effectiveness is far more profound. Chamomile shampoo enhances the shine and softness of hair. It is herbal and safe.
