While many breeds of cats are generally lap cats that prefer the indoors, many others make great company for owners who have a wild streak in them and love adventure. These cats can even accompany their owners on trekking and hiking expeditions. Here are a few breeds of cats best suited for adventure lovers:

Chausie
The Chausie’s size may give you the impression of a great, big, untamed cat, but it is actually a very tame species. This breed has a big, bony structure, with a broad chest, strong muscles, and long legs. They are accomplished hunters and very active. They are also very sweet, but do not enjoy cuddling.

American Shorthair
American shorthairs are muscular, stocky, well-built cats. Their adaptable temperament makes them ideal for both indoors and outdoors. This breed is a natural hunter and needs minimal maintenance, which makes them great cats for adventurers.

Maine Coon
The Maine coon is one of the largest breeds of domestic cats. Blessed with a rectangular, solid, muscular structure, this cat also has a soft temperament and is known for its intelligence. It is suited to withstand harsh weather conditions, which makes them good cats for adventures.

Birman
Birmans have semi-long, silky hair, and relatively small ears. They are short and sturdy, and their size varies from medium to large. This breed is intelligent and curious. They are known to follow their masters on trips and are often compared to dogs for their faithfulness. Their cool temper makes them ideal cats for adventurers.

Abyssinian
Abyssinians are inquisitive, loyal, and spirited. They are of medium build with well-developed muscles. They are usually not the indoor type, because they are preoccupied with exploring and playing. They are formidable hunters and can be trained for adventurous activities.
