Calcium lowers blood pressure and helps maintain a regular heartbeat. It is also essential for healthy bones and teeth. Most of the body’s calcium is stored in the bones. When calcium intake falls below the body’s needs, calcium is leached from the bones leading to weak and brittle bones.

Calcium helps:
  1. Weak bones. Weak bones can cause joint pain and osteoporosis. To avoid this, take calcium supplements, bone supplements, or increase dietary calcium intake.
  2. Joint pain. To relieve joint pain without calcium supplements or osteoporosis vitamins, increase your intake of dietary calcium.
  3. Elderly people. Many older people are unable to digest milk and other sources of dietary calcium.
  4. Children and busy young people. Calcium supplements help round out diets that may not be balanced.
The best calcium supplements
The best calcium supplement is of animal origin. The human body easily absorbs this form of calcium and it helps build strong bones and teeth.

Calcium supplements should dissolve easily in your stomach to be absorbed by the intestine. To help your body absorb calcium better, take calcium supplements with  food. Also spread your bone supplement intake throughout the day for best results.

A word of warning
Excess calcium can lead to health problems. Consult your doctor before taking calcium supplements even if you are experiencing joint pain.
