What Is The Bilderberg Group?

Friday, 10 Jun 2011 11:27 AM

Right now, about 100 of the world’s leaders are convened at the Hotel Suvretta in St. Mortiz, Switzerland for the invitation-only Bilderberg Group event. The meeting’s topics for discussion remain confidential, but the conclusions and decisions reached will certainly affect all areas of the world.

The Bilderberg Group first started in 1954 when Prince Bernhard of Holland wished to bring together elites from both European and American society and industry. Since 1954, the event has attracted attendees ranging from former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn, to the King of Morocco, to executives at Coca-Cola, reports TIME.

Because the event is so discreet, conspiracy theories abound over what exactly goes on behind closed doors at the Bilderberg yearly gathering. Does the event serve, as some have posited, merely as a diplomatic gathering to help various industries and nations understand one another, or could Bilderberg actually act as a strategic planning assembly with the aim to manipulate world order?
