Whether you're planning a trip to Alaska or already live there, one thing you should know is that some of the best national parks exist in Alaska. Plan your trip or spare time accordingly and work the following locations into your next itinerary.

DENALI NATIONAL PARK features the tallest mountain in North America; Mount McKinley. If that weren't reason enough, the park is surrounded by the Alaska Range of other mountains and glorious looking glaciers. The park itself houses over 6 million acres and has an Eco-system of large mammals everywhere. The park is located 125 miles south of Fairbanks and 240 miles north of Anchorage. best alaskan national parks

KENAI FJORDS NATIONAL PARK is the place to be if you want to see mountains, ice, and marine life. The park was established to protect and keep up the amazing scenery and natural marine wildlife that call the area home. One can easily get to the park through the town of Seward, but can also take boat tours of the isolated fjords.

GLACIER BAY NATIONAL PARK is a must-see area located west of the capital city, Juneau. It's accessible only by air or boat and features snow-topped mountains, fresh water lakes, and deep fjords. Most of the visitors actually never set foot in the park as they view it from the decks of cruise ships. Tourists can see a unique perspective of the landscape as it's being affected by the receding glaciers.

WRANGELL ST. ELIAS NATIONAL PARK shouldn't be missed as it's the largest national park in the country and hosts an abundance of peaks, mountains, and glaciers. In actuality, it houses 9 out of 16 of the highest points in the U.S. More remote than the other parks, it is located about 4 hours north of Anchorage. It offers amazing backpacking, wildlife watching, and exploring to the adventuresome traveler. Both air service and primitive roads are available to this park.

The scenery of Alaska could not be better preserved than it is in the glorious national parks of the state. Plan your trip to the 49th state with trips to parks as a focal point of your travel.
