10 Best Supplements for Arthritis

People are increasingly turning to natural supplements for arthritis cure. A number of such natural rheumatoid arthritis supplements are available over the counter. But few of these arthritis supplements are clinically tested and proven to be effective. Natural arthritis supplements usually fall into two categories. The first one is herbal arthritis supplements and other is non-herbal (marine/animal origin).
Glucosamine is one of the most popular natural arthritis supplements. This is found in normal cartilages where it blocks the bad enzymes that destroy the cartilage. It is claimed to reduce pain and inflammation in the joints. Most arthritis supplement formulations contain this ingredient.
Chondroitin sulphate, another widely used natural arthritis supplement, is very safe and well tolerated. It helps in the formation of new cartilage tissue along with slowing the breakdown of existing ones.
Boswellia serrata (Shallaki) has boswellic acid, the ingredient Ayurveda prescribes as a natural arthritis supplement as well as rheumatoid arthritis supplement when used after purification.
Curcuma longa(Haridra) is another common herb having a strong reputation as an arthritis supplement. It is commonly known as turmeric. It is a powerful anti-inflammatory and helps in relieving swelling in the joints.
Commiphora mukul (Guggulu), the supplement for arthritis is used after purification. Most compound Ayurvedic formulations contain Gugglu as an arthritis supplement.
Harpagophytum procumbens (Devil’s claw), native to South Africa, has gained its reputation as an effective supplement for arthritis. It reduces pain and swelling of joints. Africans have been using this plant as an arthritis joint pain supplement since a long time.
Zingiber officinale (Ginger), a common kitchen ingredient, is also found to be wonderful supplement for arthritis. It is considered to be ananti-inflammatory. In fact, it is used both as an arthritis supplement as well as a rheumatoid joint supplement.
Allium sativum (Garlic), an effective cholesterol reducing agent as well as a rheumatoid arthritis supplement. It is taken raw or after processing in milk. It is used as a key ingredient for making many medicines that are good supplements for arthritis.
Trigonella foenum-graecum (Fenugreek seed) is another potent arthritis joint supplement. The raw seeds are soaked overnight and chewed in the morning. Besides being a good arthritis supplement, this analgesic herb product is good for reducing muscular and body pains.
Methylsulfonylmethane, a sulphur compound found in fruits, vegetables and grains, is another successful arthritis supplement used both as an arthritis joint supplement and a rheumatoid arthritis supplement.
