ABC’s hit show “Desperate Housewives” will make its eighth season its last,
BBC reports.
"The only thing harder than creating a hit show is knowing when to end, especially when you have one of most amazing casts in the history of television," creator Marc Cherry told reporters. "I wanted to go out while the network still saw us as a viable show, while we were still a force to be contended with."
Cherry went on to say that the decision to end the “Housewive’s” tenure on Wisteria Lane was a joint one between ABC and writers and that they wanted to go out “in the classiest way possible.”
The Golden Globe and Emmy-winning show premiered in 2004 and has been a hit with audiences ever since.
The series finale will air in May 2012.
