Louisiana College was founded in 1906 as a private coeducational college serving both science and arts. Housed on a sprawling suburban campus in Pineville, its dictum is to build character as well as higher learning. Louisiana College offers the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Social Work, and Bachelor of General Studies degrees and offers over 70 majors, minors, and pre-professional programs. It is also a good college in Louisiana for nursing as it also offers a program in Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The institute has a brilliant academic record. Students from here have found placement in accredited law schools, medical colleges, social organizations, nursing jobs, to name a few. Its athletic division is also distinguished.
 
Louisiana Tech University is a public university with a private ambiance. It was founded in 1894 in Ruston, in a rural setting. The institute strives to provide quality teaching, research, creative activity, public service, and economic development. Though it runs a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs, its engineering department is highly acclaimed. Its athletics wing is also very popular. Science, business studies, and liberal arts are some of the other attractions of this institution.
 
Our Lady of Holy Cross College was founded in 1916 and is located near New Orleans. It offers an assortment of undergraduate programs including allied health, history, and theology. It also offers a Master of Arts in Education and a Master of Arts in Theology. For students inclined to a degree in medicine, the college offers a pre medical course to undergraduates. One of the best things about this institute is small classes that help to give better attention to each student. It also aims at social involvement of the students through its annual “Bread for the World/Walk for the Hungry” program. Sports are also an integral part of the college curriculum.
 
Remington College was founded in 1940 as a privately owned institution. Degree and diploma programs are offered in business, information technology, criminal justice, electronics, graphic arts, beauty and fitness, and the health sciences. Students enrolled here can also avail of scholarship programs, subject to fulfilling the required conditions.
 
Southern University and A&M College was founded in 1880 and is a historically black college. It offers degrees and diplomas in medical programs, mass communication, and public administration. It also offers agricultural and mechanical programs.
