With some diligence and careful planning, you can save money on the purchase of plane tickets. The following are a few ways that can help you find cheap plane tickets:

1. Cheap plane tickets:
Take flights that have connections or layovers. These flights are available at cheap rates. In fact, if you are willing to make a connection, or stay at the airport for a layover, you can find a cheap plane ticket most of the time. Planning your vacation and buying tickets well in advance can fetch you a huge discount on plane tickets. Remember the cheapest airfares are available when traveling midweek, primarily on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

2. Discount plane tickets:
Staying with the same airline during the entire trip can get you reasonable fare discounts on your tickets. Another tactic involves buying plane tickets from consolidators. Consolidators buy a block of tickets and sell them at a discounted price. Thus, they help the airline fill up all available seats.  You can try “bargain flights” too for discount tickets. To get a bargain flight, keep checking with the airlines continuously, to find out what is available with them. If an aircraft is flying with less than its total capacity, a nice bargain may be on the way!

3. Cheap flights:
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Satudays are typically the cheapest days to fly. Mondays and Fridays are the most expensive because business travelers as well as weekend vacationers fly on these days. Late-night flights and early-morning flights can also fetch you cheap plane tickets. The best time to get  cheap flights is when off-season tickets are being sold. Prices are slashed drastically, and the airlines provide passengers numerous tempting offers.

4. Flight deals:
Top travel deal sights, online reservation websites, bidding sites, and other popular websites offer good flight deals. But it’s important that you are updated with various airfares to win the bid. A few websites provide up-to-date airfares in different cities. You can sign up for their mailing list free of cost and receive the latest deals as they happen. Another easy way is to subscribe to alerts sent via e-mail by airlines that fly out of the airport closest to you.

5. Booking Windows:
You can also buy cheap air tickets by using booking windows. Most airlines have booking windows. These cheap air tickets are generally offered 21 days, 14 days, and seven days prior to the date of your departure. The 21-day advanced air tickets are the cheapest air tickets. However, advance purchase fares can often be secured in as little as 14 to seven days in advance of the date of your departure .

6. Flight packages:
In their effort to attract more tourists, tourism authorities offer special flight packages. Flight packages offer deals on food, accommodations, and transportation, among other privileges. Flight packages are an added advantage for tourists. They may actually save a huge amount of money, sometimes close to a whopping 50% off! This is more advantageous for tourists since they get an additional discount on hotel, food, and other expenses.
