A San Mateo feline has given literal meaning to the term “cat burglar.”

Five-year-old Humane Society adoptee Dusty has stolen hundreds of items from neighbors since being brought home by owner Jean Chu and her husband.

According to MSNBC, experts speculate that Dusty’s natural predatory instincts have “gone astray,” resulting in the almost nightly thievery of gloves, towels, shoes, and other items from nearby homes.

Neighbor Kelly McLellan reports, “He stole my bikini . . . When it went missing I wasn’t worried, though. I knew where to go.”

Apparently the victims of Dusty’s heists are not too angry about the cat’s antics. His sticky paws have actually made him a local celebrity.
