When one is looking for the best BMW cars, it is hard to narrow it down to just one choice. The cars produced by this manufacturer are known for both quality and style. Two models from the 2011 BMW lineup do stand out, although for very different reasons. If you are in the market for a BMW car, consider purchasing either a M3 GTS or any car from the BMW-1 series. The BMW M3 GTS is a lighter weight car than previous models and yet has more power. This is due in part to the fact that the rear seats have been removed and the center console and door trim have been downsized. Air conditioning is also optional on this model to reduce the weight even more.

The engine features 444 horsepower which is up from 414 in earlier models. Engineers accomplished this by boring the engine from 4.0 to 4.4 liters and raising the maximum torque to 325 lb-ft at 3750rpm. This is up from 295 lb-ft at 3900 rpm. In addition, the suspension is fully adjustable on the 2011 which serious car drivers will love.

Speed has increased on this model also. Go from 0-to-60-mph in 4.4 seconds according to manufacturer data. Expect this to drop even more under real life conditions. Top speed for this vehicle has increased from 155 mps to 190 which drivers will love if they can get it up that high. The seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is the only option on the 2011 M3 GTS and serious buyers can expect to pay approximately $170,000 for the privilege of driving this car.

The BMW M1 series also has many features that drivers will appreciate. Designed to appeal to the younger crowd, the M1 has a sleek outline offset by flared wheel arches. With this sporty little vehicle, 0-to-60 mph time is just over six seconds and top speed for this model is a speedy 161.6 mph. The 3.5 liter Inline-5 engine has a maximum torque of 243.4 lb-ft at 5500rpm and each comes with a manual five speed transmission. Although the price for this model has been set at $115,000, this is a hot car that will fly off the production line.
