American Idol finalist, Alex Lambert, has retracted his Monday night Twitter claims of being homeless after a recent media firestorm.
A year ago Lambert, (not to be confused with Adam Lambert who finished second in 2009 and is now one of the greatest success stories in the history of the show), a Texas native, secured his place as one of the top 16 Idol Semi-finalists,
but life since hasn't been anything to sing about.
Or so Lambert claimed in a series of tweets announcing he had been homeless, sleeping in alleys, and in need of help.
Having caught wind of Lambert’s tweets, Idol reps were quick to point out that the singer may have been exaggerating. In fact, he gets cut a paycheck every month!
A spokesperson for Idol confirms to Entertainment Weekly
that it was Lambert who wrote the tweets, but is quick to clarify that, “He’s not homeless. I don’t know where that came from . . . He’s on a retainer, and he’s getting money every month. ”
Lambert ultimately chalks the homeless rumor up to a “miscommunication” tweeting that he wanted his fans to know that he has had to “hustle and grind” to make it as far as he has, but that he’s “just fine.”
