MOUGINS, France — Former US president Bill Clinton will join actress Sharon Stone at this year's star-studded AIDS fund-raiser in southern France, held each May on the fringes of the Cannes film festival, organisers said Monday.

The annual gala for the American Foundation for AIDS Research (AmfAR), one of Europe's main charity events, raised 10 million dollars (7.48 million euros in current exchange rates) in 2008.

Clinton will attend the May 21 event alongside Stone, Harvey Weinstein, Carine Roitfeld, Michelle Yeoh and Donatella Versace, among other personalities.

Singer Annie Lennox will give a special performance for the 800 VIP guests seated at tables worth 100,000 dollars apiece.

For the first time the gala will take place at the Riviera palace, the Eden Roc, at Cap d'Antibes.
