President Barack Obama is joining the lineup for the Kennedy Center's annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration.

The White House says Obama will speak during the first part of Monday evening's show. He will then join his family in the presidential box for his first King holiday as president.

Singer India.Arie will perform along with Georgetown University's Let Freedom Ring Choir.

Free tickets for the 6 p.m. event will be handed out beginning Monday morning at the Kennedy Center's Concert Hall.
