Swiss authorities say an attempt by Roman Polanski's lawyers to unseal secret testimony by a Los Angeles prosecutor and submit it to them is irrelevant to their decision whether to extradite the filmmaker to the United States.

In a motion filed Thursday, Polanski's lawyers claimed transcripts of testimony by retired Deputy District Attorney Roger Gunson would prove the extradition request is based on false and incomplete statements by the Los Angeles district attorney's office.

Spokesman Folco Galli said Friday the Swiss Justice Ministry works on the assumption that the extradition request is based on correct statements.

The Swiss have yet to decide whether to extradite the 76-year-old movie director. Polanski is under house arrest at his Alpine chalet.
