Several months after encouraging movie-industry colleagues in Hollywood to support Alison Lundergan Grimes in the Kentucky Democratic Senate race, Jeffrey Katzenberg is throwing a party Monday night at the home of Steve Lafferty, of Creative Artists Agency, The Hill reports.

Katzenberg, CEO of DreamWorks, will serve as co-host of the fundraiser, which will feature such stars as "Halloween's" Nancy Stephens and Greg Silverman, of Warner Bros., says The Hollywood Reporter, which first reported the news last month.

Katzenberg's goal: unseating Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Last year, Katzenberg emailed his Hollywood friends and urged donations for Lundergan Grimes in "a pivotal election that can get the Senate working again." About $1 million was raised.

Republicans see the Hollywood help as evidence Lundergan Grimes is out of touch with Kentucky.

Kentucky GOP spokeswoman Kelsey Cooper said it points to Lundergan Grimes' lack of connectedness with Kentucky and will result in the Democrat's being beholden to those interests.

"While Alison Lundergan Grimes may try and tell Kentuckians that she'll fight for them and their values if elected to the Senate, there is no denying that she is supported and financially backed by some of the country's and Hollywood's most liberal political activists and donors -- individuals that enthusiastically support policies like Obamacare, President [Barack] Obama and [Sen. Majority Leader] Harry Reid's war on coal, and gun-control legislation," Cooper said.
