Dear President and Congress: Good Government protects everyone
In the New Living Translation, Jeremiah 22: 3, it is stated: “This is what the Lord says: Be fair-minded and just. Do what is right! Help those who have been robbed; rescue them from their oppressors. Quit your evil deeds! Do not mistreat foreigners, orphans, and widows. Stop murdering the innocent!"
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during a 1967 Christmas sermon said similarily: “Man is a child of God, made in His image, and therefore must be respected as such . . . And when we truly believe in the sacredness of human personality, we won't exploit people, we won't trample over people with the iron feet of oppression, we won't kill anybody.”
Why are our leaders so angry? Why do the president and Congress waste their time with futile plans of human reasoning? The rulers of the Earth prepare for battle; they plot together, and yet, people they promised to serve are crying and dying. Listen leaders, act wisely! Don’t be deceived, for God isn’t going to stand by and allow a mockery.
I was listening to news report, and observed that rather than bringing about a speedy, economically sound and moral solution to this shutdown, members of Congress on both sides of the isle are fighting to stand for whatever platforms they were elected upon.
We don’t hear enough about standing up for truth. Rather than simply standing your ground, why not stand after having done all to stand? Stand in the full armor of God!
“One nation under God” still remains part of America’s credo. Are there any brave leaders who can do this? Godly leaders protect everyone, from the womb until natural death and everyone in between. America, it is time to stand up for truth. God help us.
