Question: Since I started taking a statin for my cholesterol my blood sugar has dropping. Is the Zocor causing this?

Dr. Hibberd's answer:

Zocor is not usually associated with lower blood sugar, so you should see your doctor to determine why your glucose levels are falling.

Sometimes hypothyroidism and Addison's disease can cause hypoglycemia. As a precaution, it might make sense to ask your doctor to change to a newer anti-cholesterol agent such as Crestor or Lipitor, to see if it makes a difference.
