Can Deodorants Give Me Breast Cancer?

Thursday, 22 Aug 2013 03:16 PM

By Peter Hibberd, M.D.

Question: I read online that deodorants can cause breast cancer. Is there any truth to this?

Dr. Hibberd's answer:

No. Fortunately, topical deodorants are not causative agents for breast cancer. Thank our Food and Drug Administration for vigilance here.

There are no alerts or warnings on deodorant use at present. If any new developments should occur, you can bet you will see new labeling on the side of the can.
