When terrible events happen, leaders address the safety concerns of their communities, then reach out to various factions to ensure a solution. Instead of pulling the country together against a common enemy, Obama divided the country by pointing a finger at Republican candidates.

Are they reliable, good, honest, and effective? That is the question that the candidates on both sides of the aisle should answer. We should all continually call for higher responsibility and honesty from the people who represent us. Until then, we will continue to watch dysfunction reign.

Recent events might lead average Americans to throw up their hands in regards to politics, and possibly want to shut down Washington themselves. Against this backdrop, I traveled to Washington this week, guessing that the city might depress me. I was wrong.
