Liberals hate small businesses because the owners work hard, fight, and seek to control their destiny, way of life and wealth, syndicated radio talk host Mike Gallagher of ‘The Mike Gallagher Show,’ tells Newsmax.TV.

Gallagher is the author of the new book “Fifty Things Liberals Love to Hate.” The list includes such iconic American institutions as McDonalds, NASCAR, John Wayne, the Bible, and Boy Scouts. Number 22 on the list is small businesses.

“When the average public sector union worker has $1 million plus pension funded by us, the small business owner is working his life away to sock away enough cash to pay the bills and have enough left over for his self-funded retirement,” Gallagher said.

“I mean what a concept: paying for your own retirement with your own money. I mean think about all of the old horse and buggy operations that got wiped out by Henry Ford’s clever work. Think of the small town pharmacies that were bumped by Walgreens and CVS. Think about what Steve Jobs and the Internet did to the music industry. But small business owners keep marching on. They work hard, they fight, they do everything gin their power to control their own destiny, their own way of life, their own wealth and that’s why liberals hate them.”

Gallagher said the goal of liberals is discourage small business because they can’t control it.

“So many small businesses operate in so many areas to the liberal just seems unruly and hard to control so liberals seem to reject, I mean many of these people have hope that through nothing but their own effort, they will become wealthy and pass that wealth along to their family, to the people who helped them get wealthy along the way,” he said.

“Ideally, they’ve done all this while enriching their customers’ lives too. That drives liberals totally bonkers. The fact is that almost new net job creation in the last 30 years has come not from big business but from small businesses becoming big businesses. I once had Bernie Marcus, the co-founder of The Home Depot, on my radio show. He went on a tirade about how under the current regulatory and litigation environment, The Home Depot could never have made it. That’s a huge story. That admission should have been headlines everywhere; one of America’s great entrepreneurs telling me that he couldn’t launch one of America’s premiere retail brands today thanks to our government. That somehow doesn’t drive liberals nuts but small businesses definitely do.”

Gallagher said that during President Barack Obama’s term in office he has revealed himself to the world and he fears what the president would do in a second term.

“He’s revealed himself to the world and I’m afraid, and I share the fear of billions of Americans, that if President Obama gets re-elected, a radical agenda the likes of which this country has never seen is going to emerge,” he said.

“Remember, I wrote the book about liberals, not necessarily Democrats – there are a lot of Democrats who are uncomfortable with the direction of our country. You know, my book is dedicated to that peculiar brand of American who self-identifies as a liberal, lives life as a liberal, wishes more of us were liberal. Think Michael Moore, think Nancy Pelosi, think your local college professor, think the check-out help with a Master’s degree in gender studies wearing the Che Guevara headband at your local Whole Foods store, that’s what Fifty Things Liberals Love to Hate was about. Not necessarily mainstream Democrats who are becoming almost extinct. I mean you either embrace the radical agenda of this far left leaning president or there’s room for you in their tent.”
