I have long held the view that if a country wants to enjoy high growth rates, it has to simplify its tax code for its citizens and corporations). What started as a short-term fix in 1760 has now become an instrument of fear in our daily lives.

Each day we wake up and see the credibility of the United States being eroded further and further. Each day the United States is snubbed by the rising powers of the world and all we seem to do is stand by and watch the world thumb their noses at us.

There is an uneasy calm over in Crimea and Russia. It may very well be the calm before the storm. The reality is no one really knows how far Russia is willing to go and defy the West in its quest for dominance in the region and major-player status on the world stage.

It was just three weeks ago when I wrote to you about the possible fall of the Russian ruble. At that point, I had thought about a possible aggressive move from Russia if the Ukraine situation got out of hand, but I didn't expected to see it really playing out.
